Georgetown Stormwater Interpretive Center

SEATTLE, WA

The Georgetown Stormwater Interpretive Center transforms a once fenced and inaccessible parcel in the heart of Georgetown into an art-infused community space. The site utilizes overhead stormwater runoff that is cleaned through grattix boxes and then used for irrigation, resulting in an inviting new landscape while providing educational insight into efforts for restoring the Duwamish watershed.

This project emerged from community interest, with MxM providing comprehensive support right from initial outreach to the state agency that owns the property. Through multiple responsive design iterations, the team successfully established a new permit process tailored to this project. Collaboration across various agencies and community-based organizations including ECOSS, enabled the project’s successful implementation.
