Juanita Beach Park

KIRKLAND, WA

Brice led a team of landscape architects and civil engineers to completely reconfigure the experience of arriving, traversing and landing at the beach at the edge of Lake Washington in Kirkland. A sweeping arced pathway connects play elements, picnic shelters, bathhouses and an activity kiosk, while providing a consistent processional experience to the beach that varies with every step. Careful grading, delicate earthwork, and careful drainage design had to come together o to make the new buildings nest within the site and the shoreline and creek setbacks that limited the developable areas of the site. Now the joyful noise of kids playing reverberates off the wood-clad bathhouse and picnic shelters, casting ripples out over Lake Washington.
